Five Bridges Road, Bishop

If you're in Bishop this month, keep an eye out for this family of Desert Great Horned Owls. They're nested in the plant formerly known as Desert Aggregates on the way to the Tablelands.

Very cool, but please respect their space, especially if they're nesting (roosting is another thing). It's mid-April so they would have fledglings not eggs, so while flushing them is disruptive there is no fear of nest failure since the eggs have hatched.
Sorry had to get my ecologist on....

Thanks Jennifer, you're right. They're in plain view of the road, but well inside secured property.
